Paul was born in Roanoke, Alabama, and grew up near that small East Alabama town. He was the third born of four children of Gilbert and Virginia Moore. Family, church and school were the main focus of his early life. His family was active members of High Pine Baptist Church.
Following graduation from Handley High School, and a realization of God’s call to ministry the summer after graduation, Paul moved to Birmingham to study at Samford University. The college years included work with South Central Bell Telephone Company, serving as a bi-vocational pastor with Fellowship Baptist Church, and meeting his future wife, Janice.
After college, and his marriage to Janice, he spent 2 years in Auburn while Janice attended Auburn University and completed her preparation for the practice of Speech-Language Pathology. Kansas City, Missouri was their next stop where Paul completed the requirements for the Master of Divinity degree at Midwestern Baptist Seminary. While a Midwestern student, he also served with the Fish
Creek Baptist Church as pastor.
Moving from Kansas City to Louisville, Kentucky, Paul began work in the Ph.D. program at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He graduated from that program during the tenure of Southern Seminary president, Roy Hunnicutt. After a year living in Louisville, Paul and Janice moved near Hardinsburg, Kentucky where Paul served with the New Clover Creek Baptist Church and Janice began a private practice.
Seminary studies completed, they moved to Toccoa, Georgia for three years of service with Grace Baptist Church. From Grace they moved to Greenville for 15 years with the Sans Souci Baptist Church. While in Greenville daughters were added to their family, Rachel in 1996 and Cara in 2006. All these ministry stops helped equip them for their ministry with Inman First Baptist beginning in 2007.
Jeremiah grew up in Shelby, NC. It was in college that Jeremiah grew in his faith, joined a Baptist Church (University Baptist Church) for the first time, and was baptized. He felt a call to ministry in his senior year of college and following his graduation at UNC-Chapel Hill he went to Gardner-Webb Divinity School. He graduated in 2009 with a Master of Divinity and was called to serve with IFBC in early 2010. Since then, he met his wife Amber, was ordained, became a father to Lilly, completed his Doctor of Ministry at Gardner-Webb, and is still learning and growing in his calling.
Jeremiah's passion in ministry is to see church members of every age grow in their love of Jesus through spiritual formation and discipleship. He also is excited to help others discover their gifts in ministry and the joy of witnessing the deepening of relationships that occur when people bond over their love of God.
Jeremiah enjoys spending time with his family, taking photographs, eating at the fish camp, and has a strong affection for all things Star Trek and Star Wars. If you want to make Jeremiah happy, just ask to see a picture of his dog, Norm!
