Pete and Jen in Southeast Asia:
Pete and Jen live and work among the unreached and unengaged people of Southeast Asia where less than 2% of the population are Christian. They believe that through the Spirit's work in developing Church Planting Movements (think "disciples who make disciples" and "churches that plant churches"), this mammoth task is absolutely feasible.
Peter is a singer/songwriter/producer with a degree in contemporary music. Jen is a surgical physician assistant. Music and medicine have allowed them to be in what is an otherwise closed (and increasingly hostile) country to foreign missionaries. Pete currently has a 5-year business visa that is allowing him to work with Iocal musicians (both believers and unbelievers) and bridge the gap between Eastern and Western cultures. Jen spends the majority of her time taking care of their 3 little boys, discipling new believers through Bible studies and house church, and practicing medicine in nearby slums and villages.
Making disciples of Jesus Christ has been the desire of this couple ever since Jen finished grad school and the couple moved to Spartanburg in 2009. Shortly after relocating to the area, Pete and Jen moved into an impoverished neighborhood in Saxon (near downtown Spartanburg). During their 4 years in Saxon, they worked to create sustainable outreach programs for the children and adults of the neighborhood. After a couple of years, Backyard Bible Club had grown to host over 50 children, 10 adults (for ESL and GED classes), and countless volunteers. After 4 years in the area, Pete and Jen felt God calling them to move overseas to help the Church reach the countless numbers who have never heard the name of Jesus
